Flossie Rollhauser is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at Special Beginnings Birth and Women’s Center.
How Flossie Got Started
A mother of four, Flossie always knew she wanted to breastfeed her own children. She has over 20 years of volunteer experience with La Leche League International, started her own lactation consulting practice, and currently works with the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program of Anne Arundel County.
A Personal History with Special Beginnings
Four of Flossie’s eight grandchildren were born at Special Beginnings, including her granddaughter Elizabeth, who was the birth center’s first waterbirth on April, 16, 1998. Elizabeth returns with her three younger siblings every year to the birth center birthday party.
Flossie joined Special Beginnings in 2002. She is also a certified bra-fitter, and her work at the birth center includes:
- teaching breastfeeding classes and milk expression classes
- working every Monday in the center’s Breastfeeding Boutique
She considers her work to be her personal ministry.
“I just have a passion for helping mothers breastfeed successfully.”
In her spare time, Flossie likes to read, crochet, and sing in her church choir. She also enjoys hiking and traveling to historic sites.
